It was a day of heavy lifting when LASRA’s old samming machine was replaced with a later model acquired from what was NZ Light Leathers. The logistical operation of getting the 4.8 tonne machine from Timaru and installed in LASRA’s pilot tannery was no mean feat and there was a collective sigh of relief when it finally came to rest. Thanks to Bruce Reay at Progressive Leathers for arranging collection and transport, Garth McGregor and his team for their incredible professionalism during the installation as well as to Guy at PFR for the kind loan of the forklift.
