In hide processing, time is money—and, crucially, time is quality. Improper or delayed cooling is a major contributor to bacterial growth, which can lead to rapid deterioration and reduce the final value of the leather.
To maintain optimal quality and efficiency, processors need to know exactly how long a hide must remain in a chilling bath or process before its core temperature reaches the required preservation threshold, typically 10–15°C. Guessing can lead to unnecessary risks or wasted time.
